Introduction to Sustainable Development
Sustainable development can be interpreted as being concerned with improving the well-being of people and the communities in which they live, for the long-term. This can be achieved by integrating economic, environmental and social impacts. It is clear that through pursuit of sustainable development it is expected that society will maintain or improve its levels of well-being. The classic Brundtland definition of sustainable development advocates development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
