At the heart of sustainable development lies the leadership and commitment to drive forward change. At a local level individuals in local communities, local business and in the support agencies are leading the way. Highly motivated individuals are inspiring positive actions leading to real change. However, these individuals are largely unknown and unheralded, yet these role models are needed to inspire confidence in others to make a difference.

The Champions for Sustainable Communities Awards provides an opportunity to recognise these individuals and encourage activities to promote and generate local action.

The awards ceremony, including a gala luncheon will be held at the Apex International Hotel in Edinburgh's Grassmarket, and will give nominees the opportunity to share their experiences and make new contacts.
