Sandra Renicks has over 10 years experience of developing projects and funding mechanisms to advance sustainable development. Sandra has a background in urban regeneration and began her career working with communities in North Lanarkshire to identify and develop initiatives around community safety, financial inclusion and land-use.
Since coming to work for Forward Scotland in 2000, she transformed our
ground breaking capacity building small grants fund for communities and
developed a number of highly successful practical collaborations with
public and private partners. This has involved membership of a number of initiatives including, REAP, Business Wins, BEP and VIBES.
Sandra’s knowledge and experience of using grant programmes has led to
her designing programmes for clients including the Scottish Community
Foundation.
She led a research project in skills & employment in the
environment culminating in the training of staff at Scottish
Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Careers Scotland on
job market developments in renewable energy and sustainable waste
management in 2006. She authored a publication of Skills for
Sustainable Communities in 2007 and Funds & Environmental Justice
in 2008.
Sandra is an experienced business assessor and is a steering group
member of the Vision in Business for the Environment Scotland (VIBES)
awards, an annual award scheme for businesses which go beyond current
legislation for environmental excellence, stakeholder interaction and
economic performance. She has played a leading role in the development
of judging criteria for the award and has developed several elements of
the training programme for VIBES judges.
Sandra is a graduate of both University of Paisley and Glasgow with BA
in Social Policy and MSc in Local Economic Development and is a qualified member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, the leading body for environmental and sustainable development professionals in the UK.
