He leads SCVO's policy and research department, coordinating SCVO's work to develop policy in and on the voluntary sector. Ruchir was formerly SCVO's research and policy development officer, responsible for statistics on the size, shape and profile of Scotland's voluntary sector, and the programme manager for the CIVICUS civil society index for Scotland, part of a global initiative to assess the health of civil society around the world. He has also been responsible for leading SCVO’s work to develop insights into the future of Scotland from a voluntary sector perspective, and was editor of VIEW, Scotland’s foremost civil society policy journal. Ruchir also has a strong interest in the arts in Scotland and has been involved in a number of charities to promote Classical Indian music in Scotland; including roles as former vice-chair of the Indian Music and Dance Collective and secretary of Tabla Alba.
