The Scottish Government has decided to extend the franchise extension for Scotland's railways to FirstScotrail. It consulted on the detail of their agreement. Important considerations were the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow but the consultation also introduces a Community engagement fund of £1million. Forward Scotland's response to the Scottish Government's discussion document on its Proposals for a Scottish Climate Change Bill. The response was informed by Forward Scotland's consultation with over 200 individuals from communities across Scotland. The submission argues that the Bill proposals are uninspiring, lack ambition and do not sufficiently emphasise a number of important factors, such as energy efficiency and demand reduction, whilst overlooking some key issues altogether.
Forward Scotland's response to the Scottish Government's draft National Planning Framework (2). The submission argues that the document lacks ambition and clarity, and calls on sustainable development to be addressed more clearly within every section of the document, rather than treated as a separate, environment-focussed factor. It is also clear that some of the proposed national developments are inconsistent with the sustainable development and carbon reduction objectives of the Framework.
