Parliament Motion Supports Wellbeing Report PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 30 June 2008
Holyrood
We are pleased to announce that a Scottish Parliament motion welcomed our recent research report, produced in partnership with Scottish Council Foundation, A wellbeing framework for Scotland: A better way of measuring society's progress in the 21st Century. MSP Robin Harper (Scottish Green Party) has welcomed the report as an alternative to GDP which is seen as a poor indicator of economical development. The Scottish Green Party and others over Europe call for an alternative indicator which focuses on measuring health, happiness and ambitions rather than how quickly their money moves around the economy; therefore believes the Scottish Government should consider options other than GDP to measure national progress.

This motion was supported by:
  • Patrick Harvie (Scottich Green Party) (Glasgow)
  • Dr Bill Wilson (Scottish National Party) (Central Scotland)
  • Jamie Hepburn (Scottish National Party) (Central Scotland)
  • John Park (Scottish Labour) (Mid Scotland and Fife)
  • Dr Christopher Harvie (Scottish National Party) (Mid Scotland and Fife)

SpringClean2010 Spring Clean Team Each year we support Keep Scotland Beautiful's campaign National Spring Clean. Despite some awful weather our small band of litter pickers collected over 20 large sacks of rubbish from land adjacent to Stirling Golf Club. We are always disappointed to find how easy it is to fill our bags.
