Forward Scotland would like to congratulate Oxy-Gen Combustion Ltd on being selected as the North Region finalist for this year's Shell Springboard competition.


Shell Springboard is a competition that provides £40,000 to small UK businesses who submit the most compelling plans for a product or service which helps combat climate change.

Oxy-Gen Combustion Ltd are developing a motor engine that will provide efficiency increases of up to 25%, with similar reductions in carbon dioxide and fuel consumption. They are based in Dundee.

The UK final will take place on the 4th March.

Earlier this year Forward Scotland was sad to learn of the death of Sam Toy. Sam was the Chairman of Forward Scotland’s parent company, UK 2000 Scotland between 1988 and 1996.

VIBES Awards VIBES Awards 2008 Scotland's leading environmentally conscious businesses were crowned at a prestigious award ceremony in Edinburgh on Wednesday 3 December 2008.

Eleven companies beat off stiff competition from the cream of Scotland's green businesses to take winners titles at the 2008 Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards, at Edinburgh's Sheraton Grand Hotel.
Funding
Community grants Grants to community groups We're pleased to announce a total of over £56,000 was offered to three community projects through the Viridor Credits Scotland grant programme in early December 2008.  The grant funds are associated with the landfill operations at Oxwell Mains, Dunbar, and Rigmuir, East Kilbride.

Forward Scotland is currently developing and looking for partners for Champions for Sustainable Communities. Originally launched in 2008 this is an award scheme that recognises the achievements of individuals across society who have lead the way in community development with the highest regard for sustainable development principles.
