Following an overwhelming response to the Environmental Justice Fund, Forward Scotland is delighted that Scottish Ministers have announced the successful projects with £2million of grant awarded.

The grant scheme, managed by Forward Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government, will invest £2 million in ten environmental projects which will work to improve and regenerate local areas and boost quality of life in communities across Scotland.

When making the announcement the Environment Minister Michael Russell said:
" This fund is designed to help communities across Scotland who have previously suffered negative environmental impacts from industry, pollution or other damaging activities, to boost their quality of life through restoring habitats."

Projects to be funded through the programme include upgrading of the Forth & Clyde Canal between Bowling and Clydebank, riverside projects in Ayrshire and Perthshire, playpark and recreational projects at Forfar, Wester Hailes in Edinburgh and in Lanarkshire, regeneration of woodlands near Falkirk and the Delivering our Future programme to encourage environmental volunteering across Scotland.
