money 112007.jpgAt the February meeting of the Viridor Credits Scotland panel for East Lothian a total of over £58,000 was offered to four community project.

£30,000 was offered to Yester Church in Gifford to support the creation of a community facility within the church building.  The church is currently undergoing major refurbishment works, and as part of this project the community wanted to take the opportunity to create a space for various local groups in the village to meet and socialise.  A small kitchen area is included to allow limited catering facilities.

Other successful projects were a mining memorial proposed by Wallyford Community Council (£6,000), replacement motors for the safety vessels at East Lothian Yacht Club (£7,014), and works to improve the greens at West Barns Bowling Club (£15,000).

The next deadline for applications is end of April 2009.
